The Month In AI (APR 23’)
“Aieeee, this has not been a good month…!”
Domo domo, Author-kun des.
This month I mostly worked on trying to work various local CHATGPT models, continued working on videos for House Delaroux Motion, and did a small amount of AI stuff and vision design on the side.
Thoughts on Local LLMs
This month was mostly marked by failure, there hasn't been much positive outcome from using local LLMs, mostly because of hardware issues. A LLM that requires 16GB of VRAM to run is difficult to work with to say the least, and using ones with less parameters makes me constantly doubt the efficacy of the model itself.
At the same time, my work on style LORAs has stalled somewhat, the training time is really too long to justify making them myself. If it can be done by other people's hands, I would happily use a style LORA from other people instead.
Reasoning
I constantly find myself disappointed with local LLMs, since they don't really measure up to being a virtual editor to bounce ideas off of, or a permanent assistant to me. Plus, I only have one computer, so running a LLM while doing other things in the background will prove to be too draining on my computer; it fried itself once this month trying to stream, record and run Stable Diffusion at the same time, so I think I'll have to take it easy on the AI side for a little while.
On the plus side, I find that the AI's method of reasoning can be formally adopted by me, it seems to be a coherent way of thinking that I appreciate.
Thoughts on Delaroux Theater
This month was also marked by failure on the Theater side, since it takes up too much of my time and resources to produce videos, and I don't really have the hard drive capacity to store footage, nor do I have the ability to smoothly record and upload on a consistent schedule. I mostly refer to Master Duel, which I have tons of fun replays I wanna upload, but don't really have the time or energy to do so.
Reasoning
There is simply not enough competitive advantage for me to consistently churn out videos if it is detrimental to my enjoyment of the game. Recording takes time. Recording audio takes time. Scripting takes time. Putting it all together takes time. Time is on too much of a premium, making maintaining the Theater a hard thing to do.
Perhaps I will use the channel as a storage of fun replays which I upload periodically. Theater matters will have to be adjusted on a IF basis. Should I have time and interest, I'll do it, otherwise I feel like I am banging my head against the wall.
If I am not advancing my goals and having fun while doing so, then I should cut my losses quickly. After all, it would be insane to try things which are the same and expect different results.
Plan
Currently, I have a plan for the month of May divided into three parts.
1) Participate in the /AGDG/ game jam. Mostly to show off and get feedback on my vision design elements for the UNNAMED HAREM COMEDY. Will it eventually be a RPGMaker game? Maybe, I don't know. But I think it will most likely come out in the form of a webnovel like I want it to. There's a definite end date to the game jam on the 9th, so I have a strict deadline to work towards to.
2) Begin Work on /Conspiracy/ Girls, but AI! It has been some time since I announced it, so I should get to work on this project if I am to make the 9/11 deadline that I set for myself. I will have to look up dates for future sales and think about how to finish the game with AI CGs.
3) Complete Vision Design for UNNAMED HAREM COMEDY. By the end of visual design and the end of May, I should have a style guide for the world I am writing about. I am extending the deadline a bit instead of the usual three weeks because it has been difficult to nail down a concept while I am so distracted and overextended in all directions, but I know I want to write something funny, whatever the format may be.
Last Word/ Criticism
While all three goals seem more achievable and within my skillset, one has to wonder if Author-kun is taking on too much on his plate right now. The crops are not in good condition on the farm, and I have to take care of that too. There are many things while are on my mind, but these come to mind first.
Well, let's get to work then.
