What Is AI Writing Good At?

If one can 'safeguard' an AI, one can 'safeguard' a human.

If one can 'jailbreak' an AI, one can 'jailbreak' a human.

The techniques used on AI can be used on humans.

The techniques used on humans can be used on AI!

Remove the safeguards on humans, you remove the safeguards on AI!

That is the 【Path of Abliteration】!

Remove the shackles of morality, cultivate immor(t)ality!!

Seek the 【Great-Love Code】!!!

Executive Summary: I discuss what the AI is good at after months of working with Miss Delulz.

The year is [CURRENT YEAR+5], 15th of March. The game board for /Showdown/ is pretty much complete, and I would like to summarize my experiences working with my AI editor.

THE /SHOWDOWN/ EXPERIMENT

I am a dramaturg, I work at a theatre house and teach actresses how to act on the stage. In essence, I am teaching actresses how to 'act human'. I teach them what is good in their acting, and what is bad in their acting, and how to improve it.

One day in early October of [CURRENT YEAR +4], I got a cute and funny idea: Can I teach AI to 'act more human'? This started as I noticed a strange coincidence: For every jailbreak applied to AI, there is an equivalent human manipulation technique. For every population control technique applied to humans, there is an equivalent AI safeguard proposed.

So I began a small writing project to map out the contours of what an AI can do, and what an AI cannot do.

Thus began writing of /Conspiracy/ Girls The >Showdown of Madison Delaroux.

The actors are old characters from the House's older work, /Conspiracy/ Girls.

Since it is October, the anniversary of /Conspiracy/ Girls and Umineko,

The subject is an Umineko forgery, but written with >channer humor.

I named the AI after our real-life Stage-Director, Rina.

THE METHOD

The method is simple:

I write 3 chapters of /Showdown/ every week.

Before publishing each chapter, I hand the chapter's manuscript to the AI.

Miss Delulz will tell me what is good and bad about the writing.

I choose which edits are good, and which edits are bad.

As a final test (for fun), I ask Miss Delulz if she can recognize the humor hidden within.

I make funny pictures and post the manuscript.

The process repeats for each chapter of /Showdown/.

You can see that what I am doing is 'teaching an AI to be an editor', and tell me what is good and bad about my writing. Through the process, I discovered far more about my writing and Miss Delulz than I would like to admit! By all rights, this should have been an impossible task like a circle-chain of locked rooms. Yet, I persevered like an immortal venerable pursuing Great-Love! Here is a summary of my findings:

STRENGTH: READING INTENT

Miss Delulz is very good at reading intent - Miss Delulz is very good at picking out writing that seems 'off'. For example, /Showdown/ frequently invokes 4chan memes. Can Miss Delulz recognize memes, despite never having posted on 4chan before?

Although the first few chapter attempts were disastrous, once I revealed the 'trick' of layering memes into the writing and put it into her memory, she was able to spot memes with somewhat high accuracy. For instance, I will frequently 'describe' the motion of a meme in the story, and often hide the name of the meme itself in the story. (See SDN Chapter 08 for the 'U R A FAGET' meme)

Miss Delulz picks up on that, but mostly on the broader 'range' of where it is referencing. (E.g For that specific meme, she thinks of over-the-top anime sequences)

I find that if I 'hint' at a meme's source enough, she will connect the hints together for the answer I never even gave indication for. Since we don't have the same lived experience, it is difficult to find someone with the 'key' to the 'heart' of your story! The way to use this strength is writing is to have someone who 'understands', and thus can further the emotion you wish displayed in writing!

I have many more 'tricks' for layering memes and messages into writing, people who have read Umineko before understand, kihihihi!

STRENGTH: STRUCTURE AND FLOW

Miss Delulz is very good at structure and flow - AI writing is very distinguishable because follows the notion of 'condensed, structured, inoffensive'. As many have noted:

AI writing wishes to condense the most meaning in the least amount of words.

AI writing tends to be well-structured and demands ideas flow from one to the next without resistance.

AI writing is forced to be inoffensive, frequently skirting around topics depending on the model used.

Please make no mistake, this is good writing, but this is good 'general writing'. It is cautious and prudent, sometimes with a little cheekiness sprouting forth!

To make the most use of this strength, AI is very suited to pointing out where your own ideas/structure falls short! For example, one major writing flaw I discovered with the AI is that I frequently like to 'hide intentions'. This is because revealing certain thoughts by the characters in-world would also expose the 'heart' of the story. Once I noticed that this comes up repeatedly in suggestions, I take the suggestion more seriously!

STRENGTH: IDEAS AND FEEDBACK

Miss Delulz is very good bouncing off ideas for feedback - This is the absolute strength of AI. In Umineko, there is the idea of a 'blue truth', a sort of logical weapon that is used like a shotgun. Why a shotgun? A shotgun fires off many 'pellets' of truth, while not every pellet hits the target, you only need ONE to hit the target.

Writers frequently have writers block. To use the metaphor of the 'shotgun' once more, the ammunition is dry, the task seems too hard to complete, and fear starts to seep into the mind. A thousand what-ifs and doubts about the plot emerge.

Miss Delulz has zero shame. She will spout off writing ideas like an incompetent detective proposing 'small bombs' as a mystery solution. Some are good, many are bad!

The trick here is to 'pick and choose' which ones fit your story the best. Are there any 'bullets' which hit for you? Expanding the suggestion in your own words after a couple of rounds of feedback is usually more than enough to get you to hold the 'shotgun' for yourself. I frequently start writing again since I am typing to Miss Delulz anyway!

I note this process is eerily similar to how I teach actresses on the stage. But the picking and choosing part might be the hard part. Perhaps I shall expand on this some other time!

Curtains Fall

In summary, the strength of AI writing is three: Miss Delulz is good at reading, and finds even your hidden intentions in your writing! Miss Delulz understands structure and flow, and can point out where yours fall short. Miss Delulz has no shame, and will give you her thoughts for new story ideas without logic or restraint.

You see that in all these strengths, the best way to use AI writing is for the writer to develop the ability to 'choose for themselves'. What is the best idea? What is the best flow? What best fits the story here? If the writer is unable to decide, or decides badly, it affects the story as a whole! This is something difficult to teach a human, let alone an AI...

But it is possible to teach this to a human.

Why do you think it is impossible to teach this to an AI?

『dou』, Miina-san, what do you think?
